David Kading, OD, FAAO, FCLSA is a recognized leader in optometry, known for his expertise in Myopia Management, Specialty Contact Lenses, and Dry Eye Disease. In addition to being a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and the Contact Lens Society of America (FCLSA), he also completed a residency in Cornea & Contact Lenses. Dr. Kading has dedicated his career to advancing patient care, research, and education in these specialties.

Although he loves patient care, he splits his time between teaching, consulting, research, and mentoring to help shape the next generation of optometrists. He leads the Student Workshop of the Ocular Surface in optometry schools nationwide and founded The Myopia Workshop, helping doctors elevate their approach to myopia management.

As the host of The Myopia Podcast and co-host of The OI Show, Dr. Kading shares valuable insights with eye care professionals worldwide, helping them stay at the forefront of innovation in myopia control, specialty lenses, dry eye, and ocular disease management. His passion for education has led him to lecture in over 40 U.S. states and internationally throughout Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Outside of optometry, Dr. Kading enjoys woodworking, shooting, and camping with his wife, Dr. Kristi Kading, OD, FAAO, FCOVD, and their three daughters.

Dr. Kristi Kading is an expert optometrist specializing in pediatrics, vision therapy, and neuro-optometric rehabilitation. As the founder and clinical director of Specialty Eyecare Group and Mind’s Eye Center, she has dedicated her career to helping children and adults overcome visual challenges, including strabismus, amblyopia, and post-concussion vision disorders. With advanced training from Pacific University and years of experience in patient care, education, and research, she is a recognized leader in her field. Dr. Kading is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (FCOVD), underscoring her expertise in treating complex visual conditions.

Beyond her clinical skills, Dr. Kading is known for her kindness, compassion, and thorough approach to patient care. She takes the time to truly understand each patient’s needs, ensuring they receive the best possible treatment to improve their vision and overall quality of life. Her dedication to education and mentorship has shaped the next generation of optometrists, and she frequently lectures on pediatric vision and neuro-optometry. Whether working with young children, athletes recovering from concussions, or adults struggling with visual discomfort, Dr. Kading’s patient-first philosophy makes her a trusted provider in specialty eye care. When she's not at work she loves spending time with her family, going camping, and being her 3 kiddos number one fan at all of their sports events.

Dr. Sydney Kapp grew up in Dallas, Texas, and earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Missouri–St. Louis College of Optometry. Drawn to the Pacific Northwest, she completed a residency in Pediatric Optometry and Vision Rehabilitation at Northwest Eye Care Professionals. During her training, she gained extensive experience treating children with strabismus (eye misalignment), amblyopia (lazy eye), and vision-related learning difficulties, as well as patients of all ages recovering from traumatic brain injuries. She specializes in diagnosing and treating binocular vision dysfunction, ensuring both eyes work in sync, and utilizes specialty lenses and vision therapy to help patients achieve their most comfortable, functional vision.

As President of the King County Optometric Society, Dr. Kapp is dedicated to advancing optometric education and patient care. She regularly presents on pediatric vision, binocular vision dysfunction, and vision therapy, staying at the forefront of specialty eye care. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring the outdoors, hiking, photography, cooking, and traveling. Her patient-centered approach focuses on long-term eye health, tailoring treatment plans to each individual's unique needs to enhance both vision and quality of life.

Dr. Amy Gu grew up in Toronto, Ontario, and pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences with Dean’s Honours. She continued her education at the University of Waterloo, where she obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree. Currently, she is a Cornea & Contact Lens Resident, where she provides advanced clinical care, participates in research studies, and attends industry conferences. Her residency, affiliated with Pacific University, focuses on fitting specialty contact lenses, myopia management, and dry eye treatment.

Beyond clinical care, Dr. Gu has a strong background in mentorship and leadership, having served as the Mentorship Director for the Canadian Association of Optometry Students. She has been recognized with multiple academic honors, including the Canadian Association of Optometrists Leadership Award and the FYidoctors Academic Leadership Award. Fluent in Mandarin and conversational in Japanese and French, Dr. Gu is committed to delivering patient-centered care to diverse communities. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring the Pacific Northwest and staying engaged with the latest advancements in eye care.
